Tips for Shopping with Teens and rue21

Recently my daughter came home from school and claimed that she needed a whole new wardrobe. At first I was taken aback, but then I realized it had been awhile since she got any new clothes. So we decided to plan to go shopping for some new clothes. We tried to think of some stores to go to and the only one my daughter wanted to go to was rue21.

Set a Budget
Before we even left for the store my husband and I discussed how much we were willing to spend on this shopping trip. With that in mind my daughter and I headed up to the mall. Once we got to rue21, my daughter asked me how much she could spend. I told her and we went from there. We tried to add up what we were buying as we went and tried to stay within the price we had in mind. This helps to avoid any conflicts between you and your teen.

Put Together Complete Outfits
My 14 year old daughter loves leggings. So we found some really cool ones in the store. There are also some really nice printed leggings out now, that are really popular with teens. Once she found some leggings she tried to pair them with some of her Favorite graphic tees for Gals. She also found a couple of skirts and one dress. So all and all she has at least 4 or 5 new outfits. And she will be able to mix and match everything also.

Look for Sales
While shopping we noticed some sales that were going on. For instance if you want to purchase some palazzo pants, you may be able to get the second one for half off. I noticed that they were doing that with various articles of clothing. Also if you go to the store you can find in the back some clearance racks - they have a lot of items that are on sale some for under $5.00.

So if you are taking a teen - especially a teen girl, shopping these are some things that you may want to keep in mind.

  2. Good tips! I remember those days well and that will be me in ten years, or probably a lot less.
