WW another sign

link up here

Continuing with my theme from last week, here is another sign. There are a few of these (with different sayings) around town.

Now I'm neither very political or particularly religious, but I also don't know if I like to combine the two. And for some reason I don't like other's beliefs pushed on me either.

Maybe it's just me. What do you think?

  1. Well ok then. I am surprised people don't complain about that.

  5. Hmm..I don't talk about them much on my blog. I don't like them mixed at all. I am not particularly religious, and I also think it should have nothing to do with politics.
    I realize many do, though!

  6. Personally, I think it is a great sign. Freedom of speech is protected under the First Amendment to the Constitution so that organization can put whatever they want on a billboard. As Americans we all have a right to our own personal beliefs, opinions, religious beliefs, and political leanings. It is just up to you to decide how active you want to be politically, and how outspoken you want to be with your opinions. I love our great country! Have a terrific day.

  7. As Cascia said, the guarantee of free speech allows this. As a person of faith, I respect your right to post a sign saying, "God is dead" if you'd like. But I also object to having an increasingly secular society force people of faith to violate their conscience by adhering to a standard that runs counter to their beliefs. As an example, forcing Catholic hospitals to offer abortions or forcing Quakers to bear arms. That is another form of "pushing others' beliefs" on someone. Do you object to that as well?

    I'm just sayin'...

    1. Well, my freedom of speech is saying I don't like this sign and seeing it everyday when I drive down the street is a little different then what a hospital might be doing. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I'm not sure about that. It does make you think though.

  9. No one likes when anything is forced upon them period, but a sign isn't forcing a belief or political view on an individual. You may not like it, but it doesn't change the way your stand. That's where our 1st amendment comes in...giving us that freedom.

What I personally have issues with is when a religious group or political party takes precedent over my choices. I am a Christian, but ACLU bans Nativity scenes from public lawns. I am a hard-working (really it's my DH) individual who is being taxed to death through pointless social programs or in rebuilding another country that hates us.

Personal freedom is the corner stone this country was built on. We don't have to like the way our neighbor is worships, but respect their decisions. We may not like our elected officials, but have the opportunity to change that every 2-4 years with our votes. Our nation is morally bankrupt. The good values are nation was institutionalized on are stripped away little by little with every passing generation. You don't have to be a religious person to see this, only a person who cares enough to stop the evil.

Interesting photo and perspective this Wordless Wednesday!
