Hormel Chilly and Dinty Moore Stew are as American as Apple pie. Just take into consideration the nostalgic story of the company. In the 1930's characters Jiggs and Maggie from “Bringing Up Father” were used in Dinty Moore advertisements. Later, a lumber jack character was introduced, proclaiming “First name’s Dinty, last name’s Moore,” who placed his signature thumbprint on every can. Utilizing celebrities proved to be a popular route in promoting Hormel chili. Ray Milland, star of “Copper Canyon,” appeared in print ads. In the 80s, pro football player Fran Tarkenton was tapped to promote hormel chili.
Hormel Chilly and Dinty Moore also bring back a lot of nostalgia for me too. Just thinking of it reminds me of my grandparents, and how they would make some different recipes for dinner. I was looking on www.hormelrecipes.com . I saw some dinner recipes that my grandparents used to make. Such as a Creamy Chicken & broccoli alfredo. Which features Hormel chicken and broccoli.
I also always remember my Dad, grabbing a can of Dinty Moore beef stew and bringing it for lunch. He worked at many different jobs, such as a Fireman, Plumber & Electrician. And Dinty Moore was always a quick and nutritious lunch for him.
And now my husband will also take either Dinty Moore stew or Hormel Chilly to lunch once and awhile, as it is very tasty and economical too. So visit their website too get some great ideas for lunch and dinner. There's a lot of really great recipes on there. "Happy 75th Birthday Hormel!"
