Missing Old Friends
The holiday season is a happy time. But it also makes me miss family members and friends who have passed away.
One such person is my dear friend Barbara. She died about 4 years ago, from complications of cancer. And she had been dealing with Parkinson's Disease for 10 or more years.
She was my neighbor. She lived next door to me while I was growing up. I knew her for over 30 years. She was like a second mother to me. She was also my teacher, psychiatrist, Dear Abby, and Friend. What I mean is she was my teacher because she always helped me with my school work, she was my psychiatrist because I would talk to her for hours and she would listen to all my problems. She was My Dear Abby because she would always give me great advice. She was my Friend! I miss her so much.
Since her death her husband has been doing some traveling. Everybody is glad that he is not sitting alone at home. He is about 75 years old, so it is better for him to get out and about and not be lonely at home. He has traveled with his son and other family members to various places. He went to Russia, I think Turkey. And he likes to gamble so he has been doing that on his travels He went on some cruises, were he gambled. He also spent some time in Las Vegas and hotels las vegas. He told me about a time a couple of years ago, where he went to Las Vegas for New Years Eve. And had a great time!
So, I miss my friend Barbara very much, but I am happy her husband (also a friend) is doing so well and still having some fun.
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss of a great friend. We will always miss our family and friends who have passed away. It is still good to remember your friend and all the good memories you had with her. She truly is in a better place now, with no pain. I know how you feel, I miss my grandma and she was just like a 2nd mom to me. She died of colon cancer. Her memory and love will forever be in my heart. She is in a beautiful, peaceful place now. :-)
Thanks Robin for your kind words. Sorry about your Grandmother. I know you are right, but it is still hard sometimes to deal with the loss of someone you love.
