Four Foods on Friday 55

Here's another Four Foods on Friday, hosted by Fun, Crafts and Recipes.
If you'd like to join visit this website!

Today's questions are Thanksgiving themed:

#1. Stuffing. Boxed or from scratch?

From scratch of course! Although I'm not the one who makes it, my husband does or my mother.

#2. If you were served the perfect Thanksgiving dinner what would it be?

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, and my mother's famous Pecan Rolls!

#3. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving leftover?

The Turkey! And the stuffing, but there usually isn't much of that leftover.

#4. Share a recipe using turkey.

Great for after Thanksgiving when you have the turkey carcass:

Turkey Soup:

(Can be cooked in crock pot or on stove)

1 turkey carcass, broken into pieces
2 qts. water
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 carrot, chopped (I add more than that)
seasonings to your liking
6 ozs. noodles (cooked and drained) or cooked rice. (my husband likes it with noodles and I like it with rice)

Combine turkey carcass and water in slow-cooking pot. Boil until meat falls off the bone. Remove meat from bones and return to water. Add salt, pepper, seasonings, onion, celery and carrots. Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours (if using crock pot.) Drop cooked noodles or rice, into pot with meat. Cook for another 20 to 30 minutes. You can also freeze any leftover soup in individual containers.

  6. Pecan Rolls are fairly easy to make. My mom has been making them since I'm little. Although "I" don't have the exact recipe. "She" always makes them. But I'm going to ask her how to make them on Thanksgiving so I know how to make them.
