Get Relief from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is no laughing matter. Working on the computer for long periods of time can really put a lot of stress on your wrists, arms and hands. It was virtually unheard of about 15 years ago. But has become more and more common with so many people doing work, either at home or at their jobs, on computers.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is pain, tingling, and other problems in your hand because of pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. One of the causes of it are making the same hand movements over and over, especially if the wrist is bent. Computer work and gardening are examples of tasks that have repeated motions.

Some of the recommended treatments are to:
  • Stop activities that cause numbness and pain. Rest your wrist longer between activities.
  • Ice your wrist for 10 to 15 minutes 1 or 2 times an hour. Take anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
  • Do exercises to keep your fingers and wrist from getting stiff. Stop if you have pain or numbness.
  • Physical Therapy can help
  • Or possibly even Surgery
I have noticed pain and tingling sensation on my own wrist after working on the computer. Blogging on the computer for so many hours will cause my wrist to hurt. And I will get a red mark (looks almost like a burn) on my wrist. It gets that way because of the way I hold my hand between the computer table and the mouse.
