Making Sugar Cookies
My daughter was home sick from school yesterday, so when she started to feel better by the end of the day, and wanted to make some cookies (for a doll tea party), it was hard to say no. Even though I wasn't sure what we had for ingredients.
We ended up making sugar cookies. I didn't end up having all or enough of certain ingredients. But I improvised. Because that's what mother's do, when there "little girls" are sick and want to make cookies for a tea party! (My son also liked them, just to eat, not a tea party.)
Here's the recipe I used:
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1. Cream together butter & sugar. Beat in egg & vanilla, gradually blend dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls, place on ungreased cookie sheet.
2. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
*Note: I only used (had) 1 cup sugar, 1 3/4 cups flour, 1/2 cup of butter & no baking soda, but they still came out good!
It looks tasty. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, The cookies look great. I'm sure you had fun making them with your daughter. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have been looking for a good sugar cookies recipe. I have copied it & plan to make some with my kids. My son is 12 & has a cooking class in school & he enjoys cooking. He made me a cake for my birthday, it was good. :-)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Robin
Thanks everyone for your comments. Another idea I had was to get some "Easter" cookie cutters, like a bunny. And make them for Easter.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,It looks good to test.I may do it myself for some holiday. When I was a kid,my mom made some cookie for me either. But in Taiwan there had no butter used in old day.My mom fried with "pig oil".Can you imaging?
